We won’t be silenced!

Last weekend, in the early hours of Sunday 21 June, a break-in occurred at CREA. The burglary was reported around 04:50, and only our office appears to have been the target of extensive vandalism.

Three windows smashed to pieces and urine was also left on the wall. Nothing of financial value was taken however. We suspect this was an act of intimidation and vandalism.

At this moment, nothing is yet known about the perpetrator or their motives. Nevertheless, we felt it necessary to publish this statement, as in our view this incident fits into a broader trend of targeted attacks on progressive voices that stand up for students’ rights.

This is not the first time such an incident has occurred; previously, both the SRVU and AKKU student unions were hit by similar acts of vandalism, carried out by far-right groups in the case of the SRVU.

Although nothing has been confirmed yet, with this statement we primarily want to emphasize that if this indeed was an attempt at intimidation, the perpetrator has completely missed their mark.

The ASVA Student Union is more fierce than ever, and we will not be silenced by cowardly acts like these.

In an increasingly hostile political climate, marked by growing repression, violence, and transgressive behavior, we say loud and clear: they won’t break us!

Nothing can stop us from continuing to stand up for students’ rights, day in, day out. We will keep organizing, we will keep agitating, we will remain visible and militant. Our work continues undiminished, regardless of any setbacks!

Long live the union!
